The Treatment

What is a customised acne treatment?

It starts with working out what we are actually treating. Comedonal congestion — blackheads and whiteheads — inflammatory papules and pustules, and hormonal breakouts along the jaw and chin each call for a different approach, and a treatment that helps one can aggravate another. That assessment is the part most one-size-fits-all acne facials skip.
In the studio, a session typically combines a thorough double cleanse, an enzyme or salicylic exfoliation that penetrates oil rather than sitting on top of it, careful extractions, a targeted anti-inflammatory mask, and high-frequency or LED where appropriate. Nothing aggressive over inflamed skin — pushing hard on active acne makes it worse and leaves marks that outlast the breakout by months.
The part that genuinely determines your outcome happens at home. We go through your current products, flag anything comedogenic or over-stripping, and give you a routine that is short enough to follow every night. A great deal of the acne we see in the studio is being actively worsened by over-cleansing, over-exfoliating and a compromised barrier.

Benefits

Why Choose Acne Treatment at Kaaya

Clearing what is there now, calming what is inflamed, and stopping the cycle that keeps refilling your pores.

Clears congestion

Professional extractions empty blackheads and whiteheads that will not shift with home cleansing, without damaging surrounding skin.

Calms inflammation

Anti-inflammatory masks, LED and high-frequency reduce the redness and swelling of active breakouts.

Controls oil without stripping

Balancing oil production rather than eliminating it, because stripped skin overcompensates and produces more.

Fewer marks left behind

Treating breakouts properly and protecting skin afterwards means fewer of the brown and red marks that linger for months.

A routine that fits

Three or four products used consistently, rather than a twelve-step routine that gets abandoned in a fortnight.

A plan, not a one-off

A schedule of sessions with a defined review point, so you can judge whether it is working on evidence rather than hope.

The Ritual

How your acne treatment runs

Assessment first, then a treatment adjusted to what your skin is doing on the day.

01

Assessment

We identify the type and distribution of your breakouts, review triggers, current products and any medications you are taking.

02

Double cleanse

An oil-based cleanse followed by a water-based cleanse takes the skin properly back to clean without stripping the barrier.

03

Targeted exfoliation

Enzyme or salicylic acid, chosen for how inflamed the skin is — salicylic is oil-soluble, so it works inside the pore where the problem starts.

04

Careful extractions

Comedones are cleared methodically. Inflamed and cystic lesions are left alone — squeezing those is what causes scarring.

05

Anti-inflammatory mask & LED

A calming clay or soothing mask, with high-frequency or LED where it will help settle bacteria and inflammation.

06

Barrier repair, SPF & home plan

Lightweight moisturiser and sunscreen, then a written routine and a review date so progress can be judged properly.

How your acne treatment runs

A great fit if you want to…

Acne is a medical condition as much as a cosmetic one. Facials manage it well — clearing congestion, calming inflammation and reducing the marks left behind — but severe, cystic or scarring acne needs a physician. If that is what we see, we will say so and recommend you speak to your family doctor or a dermatologist. We are very happy to work alongside prescribed treatment.

Before you book: when this treatment is not appropriate

If you are already on prescription treatment — topical retinoids, benzoyl peroxide, oral antibiotics or isotretinoin — tell us before booking. Skin on those medications is considerably more fragile, and exfoliation or extraction that would be routine otherwise can damage it. Isotretinoin in particular rules out most active treatments for six months after your final dose.

If this is not quite the right treatment

Alongside your plan, a salicylic chemical peel can be worked in once the skin is stable, and an algae peel helps with the marks left behind once breakouts are properly controlled. If manual extractions are painful for you, a Hydro Facial clears congestion far more comfortably.

Questions

Acne Treatment FAQs — London, Ontario

How many sessions will I need?
Typically every two to three weeks for the first three months, then monthly maintenance. Because skin turnover takes around four weeks, eight to twelve weeks is the minimum honest window in which to judge whether a plan is working.
Sometimes. Congestion already sitting below the surface can come up in the first two to four weeks as it clears. That purge settles, and it is different from a genuine reaction — we will tell you which one you are having.
Where appropriate, yes — salicylic acid in particular, because it is oil-soluble and reaches inside the pore. Strength and frequency are adjusted for how inflamed and sensitive the skin is, and we scale back if the barrier is already compromised.
Yes, and it is often the right time to come. We would keep the session calming, focus on reducing inflammation, and postpone extractions over inflamed lesions until they have settled.
Flat marks — the red and brown discolouration left behind — fade with consistent treatment and daily sunscreen. Indented, textural scarring needs microneedling, but only once the active acne is properly under control. Needling through active breakouts spreads bacteria.
