Chemical Peel in London, Ontario
The Treatment
What is a chemical peel?
A chemical peel uses a cosmetic-grade acid solution to loosen the bonds holding dead skin cells together, so the surface layers shed in a controlled way and are replaced by newer skin underneath. The acid used and its concentration determine how deep the peel works and which concerns it addresses.
We work with superficial to light-medium peels and choose the acid to match the skin, not the other way round. Glycolic for dullness and fine lines. Salicylic, which is oil-soluble and therefore gets inside the pore, for breakouts and blackheads. Lactic for dry or sensitive skin. Mandelic — the largest molecule, so the slowest and gentlest penetration — for reactive skin and for deeper skin tones, where the risk of post-inflammatory pigmentation needs managing carefully.
Peels work as a course, not as a single visit. Your first appointment is deliberately conservative: we patch test, start at a low concentration with a short contact time, then build strength across sessions as your skin demonstrates it tolerates it. Anyone promising a dramatic transformation from one peel is selling you something.
Benefits
Why Choose Chemical Peel at Kaaya
The treatment with the strongest track record for pigmentation and post-acne marks — used properly, over a course.
Fades pigmentation
Accelerated shedding of pigmented surface cells lightens sun spots, melasma patches and uneven tone over a course.
Clears and prevents breakouts
Salicylic acid dissolves the oil and debris inside the pore, which is where comedonal and inflammatory acne actually starts.
Smoother texture
Controlled resurfacing refines roughness and softens the appearance of fine lines across the forehead and cheeks.
Reduces post-acne marks
The flat red and brown marks left behind by old breakouts respond well to peels, particularly alongside daily sunscreen.
Stimulates collagen
The repair response after a peel encourages new collagen, which builds firmness gradually across a series.
Adjustable strength
Concentration and contact time are dialled up as your skin builds tolerance, so the course keeps working without overreaching.
The Ritual
How your chemical peel appointment runs
Careful, measured and monitored — from patch test to aftercare plan.
Consultation & patch test
We review your skin type and tone, medications, recent treatments and sun exposure, then patch test before any full-face application.
Pre-peel prep
The skin is cleansed and degreased so the acid penetrates evenly rather than pooling in oilier areas.
Application & timed contact
The solution is applied in layers and timed to the second, with your skin watched continuously for the endpoints we are looking for.
Neutralise
The peel is neutralised and thoroughly removed the moment the correct endpoint is reached — not a moment after.
Calm & repair
A cooling mask and a barrier repair cream settle heat and tightness and support the skin through the shedding phase.
Aftercare plan & SPF
Mineral sunscreen goes on before you leave, along with a written aftercare plan and the date of your next session.
Suitability
Is a chemical peel right for you?
A great fit if you want to…
Peels are not one-size-fits-all, and the acid we choose is determined by your skin type and tone rather than by what is popular. Deeper skin tones are treated with mandelic or low-percentage lactic acid, at longer intervals, because it is aggressive over-peeling that triggers post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Conservative and consistent beats strong and occasional every time.
Concerns it helps with:
Pigmentation
Sun damage
Post-acne marks
Breakouts
Blackheads
Fine lines
Uneven tone
Before you book: when this treatment is not appropriate
A peel is not appropriate if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken isotretinoin within the last six months, have active cold sores, open lesions or sunburn in the treatment area, or have used prescription retinoids in the past week. Recent waxing or laser in the same area also means waiting. Full disclosure at consultation genuinely matters here — with acids, it is what people leave out that causes problems.
If this is not quite the right treatment
Not everyone should start with acids. If your skin reacts to them,
microdermabrasion resurfaces mechanically and is gentler on reactive skin. If breakouts rather than pigmentation are the main issue, a
customised acne treatment addresses the cause instead of the marks left behind.
